| Multimodal studies take the
single mode modelling approach to a higher dimension requiring a broader
and yet deeper understanding of the transport system, its internal
relationships between modes and its external relationships with the
the drivers of demand.
Jacobs Consultancy provides a multi-disciplinary
team covering a range of practical and theoretical expertise including
planning and land use, transport planning, modelling,
engineering design, environmental assessment and economic evaluation.
Our project experience encompasses all of these transport
consulting roles. For example we were the lead consultant on the UK
Government's West to East Midlands Multi-Modal study, a two year
study costing around £2 million.
Development of Park and Ride, Parking Constraint
and Dynamic Crowding models requires the application of innovative programming
and modelling techniques. Models were developed
in close collaboration with client staff to ensure that the final tool
not only satisfied their needs, but that the mechanisms involved
were also fully understood and can be operated by client modelling
staff.
Our models are used to enable testing of various network
options including road improvements, new public transport lines,
cordon or congestion charging, and road tolling.
Our relevant experience includes highway, light rail, heavy rail
and multi-mode integrated transport studies, covering both passenger
and freight movements, for central government, Highways Agency,
passenger transport executives, local authorities, network operators,
banks, the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA), Network Rail and Transport
for London (TfL). Supported by a range of sub-consultants
including academics we are able to offer the full spectrum of
services which may be required by clients.
